Just lie down.

One minute you find your world crashing around you... Then suddenly, from beneath the debris, you see a glimpse of light. Oh how I long for Christmas break and the sigh of relief that comes with it. School is really breaking my spirit right now, but I am determined to finish strong. At this point, any work I do just makes me bitter that I didn't work hard at the beginning of the semester. What was I thinking!?! Why didn't someone slap me and tell me to wake up! But I'm super thankful for forgiving professors and dear friends.

One of my sorority sisters has given me a job opportunity! I am thrilled. You see, I've been racking my brain to think of a job for next semester. I begin student teaching next Spring and I can't imagine driving to a mall after teaching! I will be exhausted. Thankfully, this wonderful girl mentioned that her boss is hiring! Want to know where she works? ... In a church nursery!!!! Isn't that awesome!?! I'll be paid to play with babies. I have been praying for a little relief during this horrible semester and my prayers are definitely being answered.

So, all of this relief has inspired me to create a list of things for which I am thankful. 30 days hath November... So I'll make a list of 30... Soon.

But before I go, I'll leave you with a quote that's helping me get through the week.

“Stress is basically a disconnection from the earth, a forgetting of the breath. Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important. Just lie down.” - Natalie Goldberg

Wind, Wine, and Wedding Gowns

What a night! The ultimate girl's night in. Frank was at work, so I was home alone being COMPLETELY unproductive. I had a glass of wine and listened to the wind outside. Apparently, the weather got a little crazy last night.

I sat in the middle of my living room floor watching "Say Yes to the Dress." I do not have a fiance, nor do I plan to be married any time soon. I simply enjoy watching women try on these unbelievable gowns. I will not say "I can't wait" but I will say "Man, that's gonna be fun!" For right now, I'm happy where I am. Things can be a little stressful but everything seems to be pulling together.

I have been doing some major stressing about this TEP interview. The man scheduled to interview me was a TOTAL JERK. He sends rude emails and has zero patience. He mentioned in one of this death-mails "I had asked someone in the music department about interviewing you, but never received a response. Therefore, I will do it myself." Well, believe me mister! If you don't want to interview me, I'll find someone else! Patrick (the other music student) emailed one of our music professors and now SHE'S doing our interviews!!! So exciting! So that's one less thing to worry about.

All joking aside, I can't wait to be finished with school. I will definitely miss college life and all of my friends but I'm just so ready to move on.

I'm ready to be able to take awesome vacations with my sweetheart...

More beautiful words from Pablo Neruda:

I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps.

I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.

I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face,
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,

and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
like a puma in the barrens of Quitratue.

2009

What a wonderful new year! I had a wonderful Christmas Break and an awesome start to the Spring '09 semester. My parents gave me a camera for Christmas! I have been taking pictures of EVERYTHING

This is a picture of my boyfriend, Frank, at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Unbelievable house we found in Mountain Brook!

The Bamboo Garden.

These are just a few of the hundreds of pictures I have taken! I am so excited to be able to document my experiences of 2009!
